LONG TUNNEL EXPLOSION. DEATH OF A VICTIM. Received June 19, 10.36 a.m. MELBOURNE, June 19. Kerr, one of the victims of the explosion in the Long Tunnel mine ar Walhalla, is dead.

Ormond, of Hawke's JbJay, New Zealand, has purchased the St. Helen's station, near Pittsworth, comprising eighteen thousand acres, for sixty thousand pounds. NARROW ESCAPE OF A STEAMER.

During a heavy fog on the coast yesterday the Huddart Parker steamer Westralia had a narrow escape. When the fog lifted for a moment the steamer was seen to be running straight for the rocks near Fort Hacking. A LAY READER SHOT DEAD

Received June 20, 1.3 a.m. MELBOURNE, June 19. An Anglican lay reader, named Robinson, was shot dead at Blackwood by Win. Pi-.icombe, who also fired at the constable who went to arrest him. The latter fired, seriously woun'ling Pincombe. Detaih of the tragecy are meagre.
