WAIRARAPA HUNT CLUB.

The seventh run of the season with the Wairarapa hounds took place yesterduy afternoon, at Daisyburn and Pairau, the properties of Messrs W. H. anil R. Buick. The weather was anything but good, nevertheless, 1 there waa a big field out and a. fair ''crowd of spectators. Precisely at .;2.30 the hounds, in charge of Hunts--iimn Welch and his honorary whip .(Mr C. J. Bennett) picked up the Ascent and made the pace merry for a '' -distance of about 3 miles, where they ■ checked at Mr R. Buick's homestead. At Mr Buick's request all were invited to afternoon tea. Mrs Buick .had the table laden with an abund.ance of refreshments. Before leaving Mr W. H. Buick, deputy master, -called for three cheers for Mr and Mrs Buick for their hospitality, a ..hearty response being forthcoming. Again the hounds were laid on and ißt'ter a run of three miles over stiff ■ stone walls, water jumps, and picket fences, the "kill" occurred in a pad>dcck adjoining the road. The following took part in tie meet:—Messrs Harold Welch (hunts-'Jv.-whhvoT) Dick Tti!pin; C. J. Bennett ~(hoiu whip), on Diana; W. H. Buick (deifKy master), on Fire Stick; J. ' Chisholm, on Tutoo; Vernon, dii Tui; ■ JR. Buick, on Kiwi; N. Donglas, on Atarangi; H. Douglas, on Haka; A. Cadwallader, on Jack; 0. Cadwalla>der, on Korahau; F. B. Vallance, on Garry; Herbert Welch, on Diana. A word of praise is due to Dr. Archer Hosking, Master of the Hounds, who, at his own expense, put men on to assist in the work of erecting and clearing away jumps. The hunt ye - vterday was typical of previoi s "meets" helJ in the som3 locality. Years ago the late Mr W. B. Buick \was noted for his generous treatment of those engaged in the hunts which took place on his property, and his sons are following his worthy ex.ample. 'lhe meet was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The next hunt wiil take place at Tauherenikau, on June2?th, instead -of at Blairlogie.
