NEWCASTLE POWDER EXPLOSION.
CAUSE OF DISASTER UNKNOWN. Received June 16, 10.10 a.m. SYDNEY, June 16. The explosion of powder nc Newcastle; is inexplicable, although the theory is advanced that probably a shovel used to open a case struck a spark. The men were engaced in emptying thirteen cases of powdar into a trench by the seashore. Mr Crockett, District Superintendent of Explosives, and a man named Zoppi, were badly injured.
