THE AMERICAN FLEET.
VISIT TO AUCKLAND. PREMIER'S MESSAGE TO MEMBERS OF LEGISLATURE.
The following is a copy of a message sent by the Prime Minister to members of both Houses of the Legislature: the visit of the American fleet, it is intended to ask both Houses of Parliament to adjourn for a week from Friday, August 7th, to enable members who so desire to visit Auck hind. Members would leave Wellington on Friday, about 10 o'clock, and arrive in Auckland on Saturday morning at about 10 o'clock. It is hoped that it will be possible for the p-irty to travel by train right through from Wellington to Auckland. It is intended to leave Auckland again at 10 o'clock on Monday morning, 17th, and arrive in Wellington about 10 o'clock on Tuesday morning, the 18lh. I shall be glad if you will advise me whether you intend to visit Auckland, and also whether any members of your family will accompany you, and if, so, how many, as accommodation will be certainly difficult to obtain. The Government Commissioners, Messrs Donne, and Hamer, will be glad to place their services at your disposal, and, if you so desire, to secure the required accommodation, and advise cost of same. If you take advantage of this kindly advise mu, so that I can give the necessary directions to the commissioners, first as to the number of your party; second, how many ladies and gentlemen; and, thirdly, whether you intend to accompany the visitors to Rolorua from Wednesday, 11th, to Fridav, 14th August.
