WOMEN'S FRANCHISE.
SATURDAY'S. DEMONSTRATION IN LONDON. PRESS COMMENTS. Received June 16, 8.15 a.m. LONDON, June 15. The "Daily Chronicle," referring to the procession of ten thousand women on Saturday in favour of the granting of votes to women, says no statesman can ignore a demand so widely diffused and so persistently and earnestly expressed. The "Morning Pofct" is of opinion that the giving of votes to women would not effect any great political changes. "It may be a good educational measure, and a symbol of a salutary change of thought." The "Standard" considers the country is unprepaiel for the general enfranchisement of all grown-up persons. It might admit a million and a quarter of highly competent and desirable women. The "Daily Express" thinks a limited woman franchise might be good, but an unlimited conlerring cf the suffrage would cause dismay.
