SCOTTISH RECITALS.
A final reminder is given of the recitals oy Miss Howison at the Town Hall, Masterton, to-night, at 8 o'clock. Speaking of a recent recital, the "Maryborough Chronicle" says: —Nothing better of its kind has probably ever been heard, in Maryborough. " Miss Howison nas a fine presence, and is a most accomplished speaker. She made it at once evident that she was an enthusiastic student of the life and works of Burns and had succeeded in catching his real spirit, which she presented in beautiful language in all .its varied aspects. To many quite a new conception of Burns and his genius was given, and was greatly appreciated. The address was interspersed with readings and recitations, given with fine elocution and a most impressive effect.
