MASTERTON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
MEETING OP GENERAL COMMITTEE. The General Committee of the Maatcrton A. arid P. ABaociation met on Saturday afternoon. There were present—Messrs J. D. Cruickshank W. Cooper, D. McGregor, junr., W. H. Buic'c, 0. C. 'Cooper, R. J. Dagg, R. Gray, E. JHarper, T. P. Lett, J. B. Moodie, Jos. Morris, H. Morrison, A. J. Percy, Wm. Perry, Bland Rayner, G. C. Summerell, W. D. Watson, -A. G. Pilmer, F. Heckler, and J. C. .McKillop. CORRESPONDENCE. The Auckland A. and P. Association "wrote asking the Masterton Association to recommend a judge for tie draught and carriers' horse section. Mr T. P. Lett was unanimously 1 chosen for the position. A letter was read from Mr F. Hill, •thanking the General Committee tor 'its presentation to him of a smoker's •companion, and stating he would al ways have kindly recollections of his with the Association. The following Spring Show dates '•jrere"notified by the respective As.named:—Wanganui A. and P. Association, November 11th and 13th; Egmont. A. and P. Association, November 18th and 19th; Marlborough A. and P. Association, .November 17th and 18th. Mr W. McKenzie sent in his resigJ from both Ground and General •Committees.—lt was decided to ask Mr McKenzie to re-consider his de"cision. Mr a. J. Wills, of Bideford, tendered his resignation as a member, ■vwhich was accepted. GENERAL'BUSINESS. Mr Watson moved that in future r the Association conduct a ram fair of :ita own, and that the Wairarapa Pastoral and Agricultural Society be given notice to this effect. Mr Harper seconded (he motion, ;which was carried unanimously. Mr 0. Cooper brought up the ■ question of the influence of the Drovers* Union on the interests of farmers. He considered it was a matter .for the Association to tqke up, as it waa ostensibly the auctioneers r.nd meat companies were •cited. It was really the farmer who would ha ve to " pay the pi per." He •thought the drover 3 had taken up an •obstructive attitude,- as the tinplcTJfe) had ottered to meet the men sana'giVß them a living wage if such did not now obtain, but these offers ... '.had been reject, d. Ho moved that a ■committee, composed of Messrs Watson, Gray. McKillop, Pilmer, Monifoi), W. Perry, and W. Cooper, he appoin'ed to consider the advances of * the Union and collect evidence to .submit to the Arbitration Court. Mr Pilmtr seconded the motion. "He did this, he said, not because he thought the demands of the Union were excessive, but because other points as regarded the ability and experience of drovers should be protperly consideied. The motion was carried unanimously. The alterations to the rules decided tipori by a tuL-3ommitt°e were iiffirmed, and will be submitted to a .general meeting of members for confirmation, date and particulars to .ibe advertised.
