FARMERS AND POLITICS.
SPEECH BY Mil MASSEY. AUCKLAND, June 12. Speaking at a Farmers' Union social at Mangore, last night, Mr Matsoy, Leader of the Opposition, said it was a mistake for the Farmers' Union to refrain from taking an active part in politics when their inttrests wera concerned. Only a few days ago a Cabinet Minister, speakin si at Auckland, had dec!;?red publicly that the people of thin country must choose between Socialism and >inj?le tax. It was time for farmers to themselves and say most emphatically that they would have neither cne nor the other. If the farmers did not keep on fighting they would keep on losing until thc-y were groaning beneath the burdens of (ringle tax.
