A largo number of remits have already been received from the various corporation;.! in the Dominion, which will be discussed at the forthcoming Municipal Corporations' Conference to be held in Wellington next month, and the order paper promises to be fairly heavy. A bag of poisoned grain now lies at the ofiice of the Otaki Road Board, portions of which may be had for a mere bagatelle, says the Otaki paper. The grain was recently sampled by a well-bred rooster, who strutted into the Board's office, winked at the Clerk, and then helped himself. The rooster returns daily for other doses, whicli prove 3 the value of poisoned grain as supplied to local bodies.
