SOUTH CLIFTON COLLIERY TROUBLE. CLIPPERS RESUME WORK. Received June 11, 10.7 a.m. SYDNEY, June 11. The South Clifton Colliery has resumed working, the clippers* demand having been abandoned. The colliery was rendered idle through the clippers demanding the right to nominate one of their number for promotion, instead of allowing the management to make the selection.
AN EARTHQUAKE. Received June 11, 10.7 a.m. MELBOURNE, June 11. A distinct earth tremor was felt at Fern Gully, about twenty-five miles from Melbourne, lasting a few seconds. No damage is reported. THE CORINTIIIC. Received June 12, 12.20 a.m. HO BART, Juno 11. The Corinthic arrived at. Ir.e o'clock to-day and sails at savtn o'clock to-morrow morning for Wellington. There are six Australian and 432 other passengers for New Zealand. HIDE SALES. Received June 12, 12.20 a.m. MELBOURNE, Jane 11. At the hide sales, heavy and stout are very firm, but damaged are dragging.
THE MAITLAND MURDER. Received June 12, 1.7 a.m. SYDNEY, June 11. Green, who was sentenced to death for the murder of a girl near Maitlund in April last, has been recomnurnled to mercy on the ground of insanity.
