A SERIOUS OUTLOOK.
PROGRESS OF CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETIES. Received June 10, 9.10. a.m. LONDON, June 9. Mr J. Allen, president of the Cooperative Congress, now being held at Newport, Monmouthshire, stated that the movement Represented an annual profit of twelve millions. The societies had a membership of two and a-half millions, and the annual trade amounted to £105,717,699.

The Wall Street Journal estimates tha*. the revenue of the United States Treasury for the year ending June 30th will show a decrease o! 65 millions of dollars (£13,000,000), and the expenditure an increase of 70 millions (£14,000,000).
