AN UNLAWFUL QUANTITY OF ALCOHOL.

INVERCARGILL, June 9. At the Police Court, to-day, W. J. Mbfiett, Christian and Katrina Hansen, and Andrew and Edith Mathieson, were charged with having unlawfully sold ginger wine containing ani unlawful quantity of alcohol. Moffett was the manufacturer and the others the sellers of the wine. The Magistrate took a lenient view of the case, andifined Hansen £l, and convicted and discharged Mathieson, and ordered Moffett to pay all the costs. He remarked that the case was not on a par witn selling grog on the sly, but rather one of carelessness in trade.
