A WAIRARAPA SHOW!

A suggestion has emanated from a member of the Masterton A. and P. Association, and will probably tr.ke concrete shape, that the name of the Masterton A. and P. Association be altered to the Wairarapa A. and P. Association. The reasons advanced for the suggested change are that the Association is now composed of a. very large proportion of South Wairarapa members, and that as an exhibition it is, or will be, a Wairarapa exposition 1-ather than a Masterton one. and the Show itself will be improved in status in the eyes of the outside public if it is sty'ed the Wairarapa Show. The member who conceived the idea of altering the title of the Association considers there is little prospect of the Carterton Show being confused with the Masterton one if the change is- effected, as the southern body is intituled the "Wairarapa Pastoral and Agricultural Society," while the Masterton organisation woujld be the "Wairarapa Agricultural and Pastoral Association." There is almost sure to be some opposition to the new idea, especially from the Carterton folk, as there is not a very striking difference between the present title of the Carterton Society and the proposed title of the Masterton Association. However, though the oil saw that a rose by any other name would emit an equally pleasant odour is true enough so far as it goes, it is proved every day now that a name is a very valuable asset in many cases, Masterton aspires to a Wairarapa Show. Should such a Show be merely termed "Masterton Sho.y?"
