PERSONAL.
The death occurren at Pirinoa (Lower Valley), yesterday morning, of Mrs Honi Kerana, a well-known Maori resident of the district. Mr K. McKenzie, of Tauherenikau, who has been seriously ill, is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. Mr John Graham, who has been laid aside for some days with a very serious attack of pleursy, had a slight turn for the better last evening. The death is announced in Ireland of Mrs O'Bierne, mother of the Rev. Father O'Bierne, 1 of Pnlmer3ton North. The Governor and Lady Plunket leave Auckland to-day for Palmerston'North, where they intend to reside.
Mr John Harris, a former member of the Woodville County Council, was presented on Thursday by the councillors with a silver tea service as a wedding gift. Mr Hugh Richards, of the W.F.C.A., Ltd., who is to be married, to-morrow, was presented by his fallow employees with a handsome silver-mounted salad bowl, and by the W.F.C.A. Hockey Club with a silver tea-pot, to mark the occasion. The presentations were made by Messrs J. Sutton, on behalf of the employees, and Mr W. Uren, on behalf or the Hockey Club. Both speakers referred to tho high esteem in which Mr Richards was held. MiRichards suitably acknowledged the gifts.
