The totaiisatoi investments were £6,332 Os for the day, and the total for the meeting showed an increase of £733 on the two days last year. Results:—■ Fitirheld Hurdles, If mile— Storrnont 1, Storm 2, Grosvenor 3. Also started Grandstand, Slow Tom, Homewood, Southern Cross, Black Friar, Blessbok. Won by a length. Time, 3min 23 3-ssec. Sil.erstream Hack, live furlongs— Assault 1, Kaikomako 2, Gold Dredge 3. Also started— Silkweb, Erskine, Cockleshell, The Orient, Muskatator, Firebell, C;dvenor, Sims Reeves. Won by three lengths. Time, lmin ssec. Invermay Welter, 6 furlongs.— The Libyan and Lady Disdain dead heat, Luresome 3. Also started — Cannie Chiel, White Cockade, Cuirosettia, Lone Star, Trent, Restless, Rose Bloom, Casque, Regiment, Postcard, Royal Shell, Heirloom. Time, lmin 18 3-ssec. Provincial Handicap, 1 mile—Probable, 8.4, 1; Spinnirg Flight, 6.7, 2; Cianchattan, 8.6, 3. Also started— Medallist, Field Gu;?, Paragon, Thunderer, Apollodoris, Red and Black. Won by little more than a head. Time, lirin 45sec. Wairongoa Handicap, 6 furlongs — Ardreigh 1, Zetland 2, De Witte 3. Also started—Petrovna, Lupulite, Imaginary, Moudjik, Whirlwind. Wnn by a long neck. Time, lmin 18 l-ssec. Riccarton Hack, 6 furlongs—Chief Lochiel 1, Pretty Nell 2, Linda 3. Also started—Royal Shell, Lupin, The Orient, Amethyst. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin 18 l-ssec. Farewell Handicap, 7 furlongs— Luresome 1. Roscommon 2, Spinning Flight 3. Also started—Harvest, White CocKade, Thunderer, Girl, Scrapiron Jack, Lone Star/ Notus, Wardland, Heirloom, Smallshot, Narrangaria. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin 32sec. OTAKI RACES. WELLINGTON, June 4. . There was fine weather for the concluding day of the Otaki Maori meeting. Twelve bookmakers were licensed. The sum of £5,323 passed through the machine, making £15,910 for the meeting. Results: — Telegraph Hack Race, 5 furlongs— Wharekura 1, Nauma 2, Lochiela 3. Naumai led to within a few chains of the post, where Wharekura joined in and won by a length. Time, lmin 1 3-ssec. Huia Handicap, 1 mile—Mystification, 8.2, 1; All Red, 8.3, 2; Cross Battery, 8.4, 3. All ran. Aboriginal, on the rails, began smartly, and led along the back , with All Red next. Cross Battery moved up at the turn. Mystification challenged All Red in the straight, and getting up in the last 100 yards won by half a length. Cross Battery and Waipaku were close up. Time, lmin 42sec. Hack Hurdle Handicap, mileMount Cook, 10.12, 1; Top Rose, 10.0, 2; Hatley, 9.0,3. Scratched— Speciosa. The Stake and St. Amelia led for a mile, where Mt. Cook took charge, and won by two lengths. Whatakura fell. Time, 2min 48sec. Stewards' Hack Handicap, 7 furlongs—King's Birthday, 7.12, 1; Comedian, 8.0, 2; Research, 7.8, 3. All started. Comedian led to half-way down the straight, where King's Birthday took charge, and won by a length and a-half. A protest on the ground of an alleged cross in the straight was dismissed. Time, lmin 30 4-ssec. Railway Handicap, 6 furlongs— Rangipapa, 7.8, 1; Motoa, 9.1, 2; Woodhey, 7.2, 3. ' Won by a head after an exciting finish. Time, lmin 16 2-ssec. Hillspring was scratched. Ohau Welter Hack Handicap, 1 mile—Blue Ribbon I, Skye 2, Snap 3. Buoyant was left at the post, and took no part in the race. Skye led to the turn, where Blue Ribbon drew level. He took charge at the distance, and won by two lengths. Scratched— Sir Frisco, Diplomatic, Scenery, St. Amelia, Research. Time, lmin 4 3-ssec. Final Hack Scurry, 5 furlongsTimothy 1, Pronoun 2, Utopia 3. Scratched—Grand Circle, Eyes Front, Chatteress, Sleepy Jane, Miss Peaty, Jeannie, Hauweru. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin ssec.
