METEOROLOGICAL.
At 9 a.m. yesterday Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours: — Wind.—Easterly gale at all places northward of Napier, Wanganui, and Westport; northerly, strong to gale elsewhere.
Barometer.—Fall everywhere. Rain is probable in all parts of the country, and will be heavy northward of East Cape, Taupo and Cape Egmont. Rivers. —Flood northward of Napier, Taupo, and Cape Egmont. Warning signal for easterly gale is exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tiritiri, East Cape, and Farewell Spit, and for northerly gale at Capes Campbell, Fouhvind, and Nuggets. by telegraph— pbess association. WELLINGTON, June 4. Captain Edwin's forecast to 3 p.m. to-morrow, is as follows: —Easterly, heavy gale and heavy rain, with rivers flooded at all places northwards of East Cape, Taupo and Kawhia extending southwards to Napier, after twelve hours; northerly gale with rain at all other places and falling barometer everywhere. Mr W. F. Day Brooklyn, reports as follows: —The following is the rainfall report at Brooklyn for the month of May:—The" total fall was linch 67 points. Rain fell on twelve day?. The maximum fall was 70 points on the 6th, and the minimum .01 points on the 24th.
