NATAL CENSURED.

STOPPAGE OF niNIZULU'S SALARY. Received June 3, 9 a.m. LONDON, June 2. In the House of Lords, the Secretary of State for the Colonies (the Earl of Crewe) censured Natal for stopoing Dinizulu's salary without Imperial assent. He declarad that she stoppage was a breach of the conditions whereon Dir.izulu had been permitted to return to Zululand. and it had inflicted a hardship on the prisoner, who was also involved in much expense owing to prolongation of the trial, but inasmuch as legal points were involved, and the matter had been referred to the Supreme Court, its decision must be awaited.

'DINIZULU A CIVIL SERVANT. NATAL'S ACTION JUSTIFIED. Received June 3, 9 a.m. LONDON, June 2. In the House of Commons, Lieu-tenant-Colonel Seely (Uncer-Secretary for the Colonies), in reply to Sir H. Cotton (Liberal), said Natal contended that the arrest of Dinizulu as a Government induna, with a view to criminal proceeding?, implied suspension irom the Government service, and the suspending of his salary. The Natal Government has authorised Reuter to explain that Imperial sanction to Dinizulu's removal from Zululand, wan interpreted as covering the suspension of his salary. The suspension was in accordance, with the civil service as regards either black or whites.
