WELLINGTON MUFFS.

"TRAGEDY." The Wellington Muffs introduced the farcical comedy entitled "Tragedy," to a Masterton audience at the Town Hal! last evening. There was a very fair audience, and taken right through, the performance was very successful, the chief fault being th* want of acquaintance with their parts by several of the characters, the promter's voice being audible rather frequently. The comedy is a series of domestic complications, ensuing on the efforts of Mr Gregory Grayson, a barrister, who aspires to be a Th.3 span. An eccentric actor-artist named John Philip Macready Purbage assists the members of various households, to imagine other members to be murdcrerp/and felons gonerally, and by his tragic bearing and utterances a detective named Christopher Cute also plays a prominent part in the "mixing-up" procees. Miss MoHie Marshall, r.s Mrs Gregory Grayson, sustained hsr nart very w;ll indeed, probably the best in the ca?te. Mr C. P>. Russell was also very well suited in the role allotted him. Miss Meme Bedford, as Mrs Hawke, and Miss Florence Kurz, as Mrs Merry, both put good work into their parts. Mr H. Fairweather, as the actor-vocalist artist, Mr F. G. D'Arcy as Detective Cute, also showed to advantage. The other characters were interpreted in an artistic way by the following:—lsaac Pacher, Mr E. Lyon; Mount Cashel Stokes, Mr G. H. Huxford; Mr Mumford Merry, Mr F. W. Millar; Mary, Miss M. Sinclair. The piece was well . mounted, and produced under the direction of- Madame Nita Steele.
