The Management Committee of the Now Zealand Rugby Union telegraphed to the Otago Union to-day stating that if the New Zealand Union's arrangements regarding charges at the teat match were not complied With the match would be taken out of the hands of the Otago Union and probably played elsewhere. A reply was received stating that the match would be carried out in accordance w'th the New Zealand Union's arrangements. Wallace, of Wellington, full-back, and Deans, of Canterbury, threequarter, will be unable to play in the test match owing to recent injuries. J. D. Colman, of Hawera, will now take the position of full-back, and P. Mitchinson, of the Poneke Club, Wellington, will take Deans' place. The New Zealand iiugby Union has approved of the appointment of Mr J. Duncan as referee in the British v. Southland match to-day. INVERCAKGILL, June 2. There is keen local enthusiasm over the football match England v. Southland. This morning the Britishers had a light practise, and in the after noon some went out shooting, and some played and others amused themselves variously. To-night the team was given a Mayoral reception at the Tbwn Hall, and afterwards attended a Boxing Tournament. Thera is some feeling locally about the appointment of Mr J. Duncan as ivferee, and the match is atill under consideration, though there is not much icimo left for alteration. CHRISTCHURCH, June 2. A special meeting of the Executive of the Canterbury Rugby Union was helij to-night, to consider a telegram from the New Zealand Rugby Union asking in the event of the test match not Joeing played in Dunedin could the Canterbury Union arrange to play the test'match in Lancaster I'ark on Saturday next. After discussion it was resolved to reply: "That the Committee regrets being unable to arrange for the match on Siich short notice, and also expresses the hope that your executive will recoup ider the decision re the charge for admission to grounds for the test matches."
