METEOROLOGICAL.
The rainfall registered at Castlepoint for May was 1.89 inches. Rain fell on 14 days, the maximum being 47 points on the 6th, and the minimum 1 point on the 27th. Mr S. Mawley, Ditton, reports as follows:—The rainall for May was S.lOin. The maximum in 24 hours was 1.40 on the 6th. The average May rainfall for 27 years is 5.49 in. Mr H. G. Gmves, Bush Grove, reports as follows The total rainfall for May was 3.15 points. The maximum fall was 1.79 points on the 6th. The number of days on which rain fell was 13. The maximum temperature for the month was 68 on the sth, and the minimum temperature for the month was 31 on the 31st. The rainfall in May 1907 was 9.43 points. At 9 a.m. yesterday morning Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours: — Wind—Easterly, moderate to strong at all places northward of East Cape, Taupo and Kawhia; westerly, moderate to strong thence to Napier; northerly, moderate to strong thcncQ southward. Barometer—Fall everywhere. BY TKLUGKArH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON June 2. Captain Edwin's weather forecast to 8 p.m., to-morrow, is as follows: —Easterly strong winds northward of Ease Cape, Taupo and Kawhia, with falling barometer. RainHs probable northward of Thames and Manukau Heads, extending southward to East Cape after twenty hours; moderate to strong winds principally between north-east and south-east everywhere else.
