nr TELEGRAPH —I'IiKSS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, June 2. At a meeting of the Auckland Licensing Committee, this'afternoon, a letter was read by the chairman from Mr H. Leckie, giving the results of a census taker) by the Young Men's No-License Committee, rpspecting the thirty city hotels watched on Saturday, April 25th, between 8 and 10 p.m., showing that during the hours in question 10,230 persons were seen to leave the hotels, 9,692 of these being men, of whom 75 per cent, were young men, 456 women, and 86 children. The number of persons set down as seen "decidedly intoxicated" during this period was 204. the greater proportion being young men.
