CRICKET.

PRESENTAjuON TO M. A. NOBLE. BY TELEGRAPH —I'BEKS ASSOCIATION. Received June 2, 9.45 p.m. SYDNEY, June 2. At a large gathering at the Town Hall the Governor, Sir Harry Rawson, presented Mr M. A. Noble, the cricketer, with a cheque for £2,000, and a s lver tea and coffee service. The presentation was the result of the movement initiated after the visit of the English team to Australia to recognise Noble's services to cricket. Received June 3, 12.5 a.m. SYDNEY, June 2. The cheque presented to Mr M. A. Noble, in recognition of his services to cricket, amounted to £2,060. Tne j total subscriptions were £2,221. The balance was expended in the silver service. Mr Noble, in responding, said that he had not intended accompanying the next Australian team to England, but in the face of the handsome testimonial he could not refuse to go. Received June 2, 7.5 p.m. LONDON, June 2. In reference to the decision of Australia not to participate in the triangular matches the "Sporting [ Life" says that no doubt the financial aspect influenced the Australians in their decision. They wanted all the cake which would be divided between two if the South Africans were playing in England during the same season. Mr C. B. try, in the "Daily Chronicle." declares that it was clear that Australia wants to continue the arrangement by which her team comes to England on Australian terms to the very considerable profit of Australia's players. The English team goes to Australia on terms infinitely more profitable to Australia than English interests, but, says Mr Fry, our authorities are determined that our cricket in future shall not be milked in favour of profits to Australia.
