THE DIXON CASE.

AUCKLAND, June 1. W. Dixon, who completed a term of imprisonment un Saturday for refusing to obey an order of the Court to pay a carpenter back pay on an arbitration award, was met by a ' large crowd of sympathisers on his arrival at Drury. He was enthusiastically cheered, while the band played "See the Conquering Hero Comes." In the evening he was entertained at a welcome social at which a resolution was carried re:ognising Mr Dixon's "noble sacrifice in the cause of freedom, and in fighting the battle of employers of the Dominion." A letter was read in which a Wanganui resident offered to contribute £2OO to assist Mr Dixon in fighting any further action that may be taken against him.
