PEACE DAY.
EX-CONTINGENTEUS' CELEBRATION. BT TBLKfIICUM — I'KKSii ASSOCIATION;■ CHRISTCHURCH, June 1. Ex-contingenters celebrated Peace Day yesterday. Sixty five strong, they marched to the statute in Vic-toria-square, saluted the flag and laid at the back of the statute wraaths in memory of comrades who lost their lives in the Boer War. The names of these are inscribed on the pedestil of the statue of the late Queen.' National airs were played by the band, and suitable hvmns sung by the men Addresses were delivered by the chaplain and Colonel Slater.
