THE LATE MR T. RAUTU.

DISPOSITION OF HIS PROPERTY. The late Mr Tuhurangi Rautu, who died at Mint Bay, Queen Charlotte Sound, was interred a k Wainui, Herifcertville, Hawke's Bay. The deceased leaves a widow and a family -of two sons; Wiremu Tuhurangi Rautu, age 3& years, and Horoho "Tuhuranig Rautu, aged 7 months. The .deceased loft no will, and a meeting was held at Porangahnu to elect the slate Tuhurangi Rauhu's children as successors to deceased's real and 'personal estates. On May 13th a committee was -elected from the following tribes—viz., Ngati Kere, Tehika Opapauma, ;Ngai Tumapuhiarangi, Ngai Te Ao •and Tuhoe. Henare Te Atua was | -elected to the chair. Tipene Matua proposed that the -deceased's real eotates—viz., Porangahau No. 1 B, Mo. 1 A, Poran■gahua, No. 2 B Tautane, No. 4 Tautane, No. 2 Akitio, section 28 .Marainangn, section 130 Mataikonr, - Nc. 1, Mataikona No. 2, Ngapaeruru Ncf 7, pass to the two sons. This was unanimously carried by the and approved by the chair">Tangi Titaha proposed that a trustee should be elected for the deceased's children, and the committee selected the late Tuhurangi wife as trustee for the children, this .motion being unanimously carried jby the gathering. On May 15th, 1908, the committee ,- again sat at Forangahau. Hoani Kuru proposed that the ownership of the the late Heta Matua.comprning twelve rooms, should be discussed. ;The Native Land Court, held at Wai- • pawa, granted Tipene Matua * sole •ownership of the said property. Hape Rautu asked Tipene Matua to grant ; her request that the two acres left by Heta Matau to her (Hape Rautu) and her grandmother, Mere Pero (wife of IHeta Matua, deceased) should be located adjoining where the house now stands, and Tipen'e Matua granted the request—the two acres and all the chattels thereon. This request was agreed to by Take Take Matua, . Hori le Huki, and Urupeni Puhara, • and was'carried unanimously. Tipene Matua asked the committee to bring the matter forward for hearing at the next Native Land Court, the motion being carried and apjproved of by the chairman.
