Mr George Hunter will contest the Pahiatua seat at the general election. Mr W. F. G. Robb, of Greytown, has been appointed custodian of the .South Wairarapa Working Men's Club. The death occurred at .Sterling, on Friday, of Mrs Hans Peter Pedersen, an old settler. The deceased, who was 65 years of age, at one time resided in the Ihuraua district. Mr W. A. Kiely, manager of the Union Bank at Martinborough, is to be transferred to Waimate, and he will be succeeded by Mr Lewis, of Wellington. On Friday afternoon, Miss Dupre, teacher of music, who is giving up her Carterton connection, entertained her punils in that town at afternoon tea. The pupils presented Miss Dupre with a handsome dressing case, and expressed the hope that she would have a happy and prosperous future. l^-
