MASTERTON COLLIE CLUB.
ANNUAL DOG TRIALS. The annual clop: trials of the Masterlon Collie Club commenced yesterday morning on Mr Hugh Williams' property at Lansdowne. The weather was unfavourable, a. light drizzling rain commencing about daylight, and continuing throughout the day. Despite the adverse climatic conditions there was a good attendance of the public, and much enthusiasm was displayed in the work done by the various dogs taking part in the trial. Mr W. 0. Rutherford, of Canterbury, was judge. The programme, which is expected to extend over three days, commenced with the heading, bringing back and yarding event, for which there were 43 entries. At the conclusion of the day's processings thera were a number of dogs that had not competed. It is hoped t > finish that class early this morning, when full details will be available. The dogs generally worked well, few indeed failing to yard, their aheep within the given time, viz., 15 minutes. There are three other events in the programme, the entries for which constitute records.
