Acceptances for all handicap events andl entries for the Maiden Trot close with the secretary, Mr W. Armstrong, at the Club Hotel, Greytown, at 9 o'clock to-morrow night. BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. WANGANUI, May 26._ Following are the principal winning owners at the Wanganui Jockey Club-meeting:—James Orr, £370; Juhn Clark, £265; A. F. Douglas, £250; Jas. Bull, £200; J. Maher, £145; Mrs Jas. Bull, £120; W. Homes, £IOO. TURF NOTES. • (By "Zetland.") By winning the Wanganui Steeplechase, of three miles, the Martin-borough-owned Tilson registered a good performance. The Lethp gelding was turned out in nice solid condition by George Freeth, and was very capably ridden by T. Pritchard, who is making a name for himself this season in the matter of winning rides over obstacles. Tilson, who is owped by Mr J. Orr, the wellknown Martinborough owner, was bred by Mr R. Tilson, of Ponatahi, near Greytown. When the horse won the Hunt Steeplechase, at Taratahi, in September last, he jumped in such a capable manner, galloped so resolutely, and finished like a stayer, that the writer, *in writing of the form shown at the meeting, expressed the opinion that would make a worthy competitor in open steeplechases. The victory in the Wanganui Steeplechase practically - bears this opinion out. Sir Artegal is being wintered in Masterton. The colt has grown considerably since racing last spring, and should make a good three-year-old. Satisfactory acceptances should follow the weights for the Otaki meeting, which will open on June 3rd. The Wairarapa entrants for the Raukawa Cup, (Aboriginal Bst, Ritfemaid 7st 111b Merrie Zealand 7st 51b, Sandix 6st 71b) appear to be nicely treated, but will have to be at their best in order to hold their own against the top weights Mahuta, Waitapu, Bourrasque and Cross Battery. Although unsuccessful at Wanganui, Motoa 9st 51b, has been given his full weight irl the Rangiuru Handicap, in which Penates 7st 111b and Simplex 7st 21b are well treated. 'ln the Hack Hurdlfi Handicap, Letherin list has been harshly treated on being asked to give weight to winners like Snip, Mount Cook, St. Amelia and Rawhiti. The Lethe gelding has not yet started in a hurdle race, so might have been let off with at least ten pounds less.
