Mr J. T. Quinn, stationmaster at i Eketahuna, who has been ill for some time past, is now making satisfac- '• tory Vrogreas towards recovery. Mr Edward Ellison, who some ; years ago was licensee and owner of the Railway Hotel at Eketahuna, died at Feilding on Friday last, at the age of 59 years. Mr and Mrs S. Carnell celebrated jFtueir golden wedding at Napier <n Sunday. They arrived in Napier in May, 1569, and have lived there ever since. The death occurred in the Grey- ; J town Hospital on Saturday last of Mr Guy Soughtori, of Martinborough. Tha deceased, who was f;5 years of ag*. was highly respected. The funeral took place at Martinhorough yesterday. At the conclusion of the first portion of the Mastert'm Orchestral Society's concert, last evening, Mr T. Rodger3 was presented by the member's of the Society with a silver « case, in view of his approaching marriage. Mr Varnham made the presentation, and stated I'fchat Mr Rodgers h:ul been a valuable and enthusiastic member of the -Society from the time of its inception. Mr Rodgers suitably responded.
