The demand for skins showed an improvement on last sale, prices for best lines being about one halfpenny per pound in excess of previous rates. There was abo good competition for '■ hijes, and a firmer tone existed throughout, prices being slightly in advance of last sale. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows:—We offered a fairsized catalogue of skins and a small quantity of wool, hides and tallow. We are pleased to report a firmer tone in the skin market, especially for sound lots and for these valuta are about id per lb. better than last sales rates. We quote: Wool.—Good clean crutchings 2?rd to 3d per lb; seedy and inferior, ljd to IJd; crossbred fleece, coarse and seedy, 2Ad to 3-jd. Sheepskins.—Ha If bred, 4£d to 5Jd; crossbred full-woolled, 3£d to 4d; crossbred half-woolled, 3Jd to 32d; crossbred pelts, 2Jd toSJd; damaged skins, id to 2.jd; green skins, Is 9d to 2s 9d each. Hides.— In good demand at late rates. Tallow.—Butchers' good mixed in shipping order, 23s per cwt. Fat in odd packages and tins, 13s 3d to 20s Gd per cwt.
