MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

MEETING OF WORKS COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Woiks Committee of the Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last evening, when Ihere were present the Mayor (Mr P. L. Hollings), in the chair, and Crs Hunter, Elliott, Ewington, Morris, Pragnell, Prentice and I-laughey. The Acting-Town Clerk was instructed to notiiy all defaulting ratepayers that they would be proceeded against for the recovery of the same. The Mayor was appointed delegate t"i represent the Council at the Municipal Conference to be held in Welington in July next. A letter was received from the solicitor of the Yates'Estate relative to connecting the estate with the water and sewerage scheme. It was resolved that the request be complied with. The tender of Mr Harding was accepted for decorating the residence of the custodian of the Park. A report on the financial position of the borough and the estimated expenditure for the coming year was submitted by the acting Town Clerk. It was decided to submit the report to the next ordinary meeting cf the Council. The custodian of the Park was given permission to top-dress portions of the land fronting the lake, the cobt not to exceed £lO. Accounts amounting to £147 13s Id were recommended for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
