PAHIATUA AND MASTERTON SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that at Pahiatua on Tuesday the yarding was small, although the quality was good, resulting in a clearance at good sound rates; this applied to both sheep and cattle. At Masterton on Wednesday the yards were fi led, in fact taxed to their utmost, and taken all round the quality on an average was better than that of previuus sales, a fact which enabled us to make an absolute clearance with the exception of one small lot of wethers. The rates for. all good wethers, forward ewes and strong lambs showed an improvement. Fats offered were only of medium quality. At Pahiatua young ewes made up to 9s 9d, forward ewes 8s 6d, culled 2s to 4s, wethers lis, best lambs 7s, others 5s and 4s. At Masterton fat wethers flight) 13s, ewes 12s to 12s lOd, forward wethers up to 14s ad, others 13s, small 10s, best forward ewes lUs 7d. others 8s 6d and 9s 6d, ewes in lamb (best) 10s, aged sorts 4s to 6s Gd. best lambs 10,9, others 9s 3Oil, 9s 6d, 9s, an:! 8s 6d, stores 5s to ?s Gd, culls 3s to 4s Gd. Several pens of store cattle were submitted, but none reached owners' reserves. No beet" offered. Store pigs ranged from 6d to 14s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their Masterton stock sale at their Waipouu yards yesterday. There was a good attendance of buyers from all parts of the Wairnrapa, and stock came forward in excess of advertised numbers. All classes of sheep met with a good s.ile, and bidding was spirited throughout. We quote as follows: Aged ewes in lamb Bs, cull ewes 2s Jd to 33, fat ewes 13s 2d, 2-tooth wethers (medium) 12s Id to 12s 9d, fat and forward wethers 14s 4d, score wethers 13s to 13s 3d, forward ewa3 9s 8d to 12s, best woolly lambs 93 sd, cull lamls 5s lOd, good store lambs 6s 9d. A good line of 4-tooth to f.m. ewes in lamb to Romney rams brought 12s 4d. Forward bullocks £5 12s 6d.
