MASTERTON WOOL, SKIN AND HIDE SALES. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., re-port-.—Wo held our monthly sale of wool, skins, hides, tallow, etc., yest r ay, when we offered 10 bales and 30 bags wool, 1.200 sheepskins, 180 hides and a quantity of horsehair, tallow and rabbit-skins. There was a good attendance of buyers, and the bidding exhibited somewhat more confidence, although prices necessarily remain in a low basis. Wool— The first crutchings of the season wera offered yesterday, though only in small quantities, and it is interesting to note that they reached 2|d for medium quality. As crutchings are only selling at 3d in London tjie prices here must be considered satisfactory. We quote:-Medium crossbred Sid to 3ld, inferior crossbred 3d to 3Jd, locks and pieces Id to 2Jd, crutchings, 2d to 2|d. Skins Fine crossbreds 3£d to 4*d, medium and coarse crossbred 3d to 4d, dead skins 2d to 2£d, dead hoggets 2d to 2|d, lamb skins 3d to 4d. Hides Medium ox 3d to 3*d, medium cow 3d to 4d, calf un to sd, inferior hides Id to 2£d. Tallow—Casks to 21s, tins to 18s Gd, sacks to lis 6d. HorsehairIs 2d. The next sale will be held on Wednesday, Ist July, 1908. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-oper-ative Association and Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their monthly sale of wool, skins and hides, yesterday, and report as follows: There was a fair attendance of buyers, but ! very little wool was offering, prices for hides being much better than last sale, skins remaining about the same. We quote:—Skins— Hoggets 3Jd, broken hoggets 2£d, medium crossbred 3fd to 4d, seedy crossbred 2&d to 22d, shorts 3£d, medium pelts 2£d, close wool 3d to 3|d, damp crossbred Is Gd each, green crossbred Is Id each. Hides—Cow 3=d to 4d, cow (slippy) 2gd to 3d, cow (cut) 2£d, cow (part dry) 3id, ox 4£d to 4Jd, ox (slippy) 2Jd , bull 2Jd, yearling 4Jd, yearling (slippy) 2Jd, calf s|d to sfd, calf (cut and slippy) 21d, calf (part dry) 3Jd. Our next sale will be held on Wednesday, July Ist.
