INDIAN FRONTIER TROUBLE.
BRITISH ENCOUNTER SEVERE OPPOSITION. TWENTY-NINE CASUALTIES. Received May 20, 9.31 a.m. CALCUTTA, May 19. The second brigade, under General Barratt. encountered severe opposition at Bohaidag. There were 29 British casualties, including three officers wounded. ENEMY DISPERSED WITH GREAT DASH. Received May 20, 11.41 p.m. CALCUTTA, May 20. Details concerning General Barrett's engagements at Bohaidag show that 2,000 of the enemy strongly held both sides of the valley. The 57th UiHes and 2Sth Punjabs cleared them with great dash. Lieutenant Ivers was dangerously wounded. Sixty of the enemy were killed. The 34th Pioneers, while demolishing towers, were charged by a party of fanatical swordsmen. All the latter were bayoneted.
