STOCK MARKET.
Messrs Palgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —We conducted a )most successful sale at our Taralahi yards yesterday. For some month*-, owing to the dull state of the stoik market, the Taratahi yards have i ot "been used. Yesterday's sale was •one of the best that we have r.ondu< t«ed in the district for the past f.ve months. JJuyers attended in gocd numbers. The stock yarded were of '♦excellent quality, bidding from the start was most animated, and prices ..allround showed a marked imp-ove-ment on any sales that have been conducted in the district for some months. We yarded 1,725 sheep, j-and out of this number 1,335 we.e -sold under the hammer, which proves ' that spirited bidding was the order ■of tta day. The sheep offered were, ..almost without exception, in good condition, and quite a number of Ibuyers were'presei.t wanting good •wethers and lambs. The yarding "principally Consisted of this class of phnrlc. and a ready clearance was ' 'effected. During the winter months •we will l'.ow be holding regular .inonthly sales in these yards, and ifjgjthe summer fortnightly sales will bq held. Prices realised weie as ••follows:—Good breeding ewes, 12s to 13s Id; good woolly lambs, forward,7a Gd to 9s lOd; two and four tooth wethers, 13s to 14s 3d; two tooth wethers, small, 10s tolOs'Jd; fat and forward ewes, lis 2d to 12s 2d; cull lambs, 4s to 4s 9d; empty ewes, 7s 9d. Only two lines were ■passed out unsold, the other pens offered finding ready buyers under the (hammer. A few pens of cattle were yarded, but vendors and buyers ideas of value did not permit of any resulting. (By Telegraph—Special to Age). JOHSONNVILLE, May 19. Messrs Abraham and Williamr, iLtd., report on their Johnsonville sale as follows:—We had a full entty of nullocks. The quality was only fair, but the entry was above requirements. Best bullocks £8 15a tc £9, others £1 10n to£7 15s. A heavy <e jtry of sheep ofprime quality were not equal to last week's rates. Prime wethers 18s 2d, 16s sd, 17s; ewe?, extra prime, 18s, 16h 8d to 17s 8d; light, 16s, 14s 9d; plain ewes, lis . 8d to 12s 6d; lambs, lis 3d to 2d. -
