WILL THEY CLOSE?
(To the Editor). Sir, —I had hoped that your timely article urging that the business places in Masterton Should be closed during the progress of the football match England v. Wairarapa and Bush would have borne fruit by now. Are the tradespeople of Ma»terton so niggardly that they will not close their premises in order to allow themselves and their employees to witness a match that will prove historical in the annals of Wairarapa football? Sir, I decline to believe that there is anyone in Masterton who would like to see "the national game" insulted, and I do not think anyone intends to. Everybody is, no doubt, waiting for someone to move in the matter, and I hope for the sporting credit of Masterton that it will not bo long before that someone wakes up.—l am, etc., FOOTBALLER. (The Mayor has already taken steps to test the feeling of the business people in regard to the question raised. —Ed., W.A.)
