"The Times," commenting on President Roosevelt's success in goinpj behind the ordinary policical machinery, cutting athwart party managers' lines, an I boldly brnging the Federal -and Stats Governments into friendly co-operation for the conservation of the national resources, remarks that men of all parties, representing most ' diverse interests, have v:ed .. in supporting him, which affords a striking evidenc-3 of th-3 effect produced by Mr Roosevelt's vigorous propaganda of •sound moral and social ideas. "If it »is necessary in the United States to iseek a new unity baaed on more directly social and material needs, the inecassity," continues "The Times," "is not less in our case. American example ought to stimulate the Emfpira tj demand greater harmony in inter-State relations, closer co-opera- • tion, and more reasoned co-ordina-tion, of all parts for the common good of the whole." Majorities of the South Wales and Rhondda miners favour affiliation "with the Parliamentary Labour party, while a majority in North Walen is against the proposal. OTTAWA, May 18. Rear-Admiral Kingsniill has accepted command of the Canadian Marine Service. Canada is stationing cruisers in the .Atlantic and Pacific for the protection of her fisheries.
