GENERAL CABLES.
Received May 18, 9.7 a.m. LONDON, May 17. In the House of Commons the Bill of Mr C. P. Trevelyan (Liberal member for Elland) granting the public free access to uncultivated mountains and moorland, was read a second time by 177 votes to 65. The application of the Bill is not limited to Scotland, like the earlier measure introduced by Mr J. Bryce, now Ambassador at Washington. The late Lord Overtoun's personality has been sworn at £690,530, and the realty at £58,700.
