FOOTBALL.

The new Association Football Club held a useful practice on their ground last Thursday, and a good game is anticipated this afternoon, as a large number of new players and members have promised to attend. All footballers are cordially invited to take part in to-day's match. A representative match, Wairarapa v. Buah, will be played on the Showgrounds this afternoon, commencing at 3 o'clock. Additional interest is lent to the match by the reason that the team to play England will be selected from the players taking part in the match. The following will represent Red Star 111. against the Masterton pistrict High School this afternoon, on Fraser's padoock, at 2.30 o'clock: —Fullback, Edwards; three-quarters, Messenger, Jackson, Kiddle; fiveeighth, Boyd; half, L. Mason; lorwards, Hogg, D'.xon, De Lisle, Treen, Smith, Mcßairon, O'Dowd, Gaily, Coyle, Harris, Edmundsen. The Kaikorai Club (Dunedin) has fallen on evil days, and the senior fifteen is but a relict of its once brilliant self. The team has lost several good men and true, notably Ernie Booth, who is now a New South Welshman, and George Armit, who ia in Australia on holiday leave. Forward, the team is fairly strong, but Adamaon and Alex. M'Donald are the mainstays. The past record of the Kaikorai Club would mane interesting Rugby history, and when it comes to be written the two bright personages in it will be the late lamented "Barney" Armit and J. Duncan. The transfer of Easthope, of the Red Star Club, from senior to junior, has been granted by the Wairarapa Rugby Union. A letter has been received by the acting-secretary of the Red Star Club from the secretary of the Wairarapa Rugby Union stating that Dalefield 11. are unable to play Masterton 111. to-day, and suggesting that the Red Star 111. and Masterton 111. play their fixture for the championship instead. If possible the match will be arranged.
