ENGLAND v. WAIRARAPA AND BUSH FOOTBALL MATCH.
(To the Editor)
Sir,—On Saturday, 23rd inst., the football match England v. Wairarapa and Buah is to be played in Masterton. Needless to write we Mastertonians should be very proud of the auspicious occasion, as [the visits of British football teams to this dominion have been very few, and up till lately very far between, and Masterton has been selected to have the honour of the first match. Owing to the match taking place on the Saturday afternoon, there will be a large number of persons debarred from witnessing it, unless the employers who do not close on that day agree to do so for this great occasion. It is with the object of appealing to those employers to let tiidr employees away for the afternoon that I am troubling you for the insertion of this letter. I would suggest that all business places close at one o'clock and re-open at six on that date, which would allow ample time for the employees to have their lu.ich and be in good time for the commencement of the match. It ia uo to Masterton to give these visitors a right royal welcome, as wo should not forget the way our amateur "All Blacks" were received when they were in the land from whence thjsecome. In conclusion, Mr Editor, I would ask you to help this movement along.—l am, etc., HUIA.
