Referring to the recent cable message in regard to the publication of a supplement to the London "Standard" containing special news from all parts of the Empire, Mr Deakin said in the House (hat the Federal Government had not considered the proposal of subsidising the "Standard," but it was considering a proposition for advertising Australia by taking certain space in the new weeklv issue of that paper. The"rest of the issue, Mr Deakin said, would be made up of cablegrama from Canada, South Africa and other parts of the Empire. He wanted to see if the States would join in taking part in this advertising. THE BEGA INQUIRY.

Mr Reeks, the naval architect, giving evidence at the inquiry into the loss of the Bega, said that he had formed the opinion that the vessel being a tender ship had been loaded in a manner which madp her "cranky."
