CASS OF CANON NASH.
Received May 10, 4.8 p.m. LONDON, May 9. , Owing to the refusal of Canon fiardsley to support his original charges against Ciinon Na3b, Archbishop Clarke has withdrawn the order for Canon Nash'd permanent disability, and : given Mr. Justice Hodges, Chancellor, of the Diocese at Melbourne, and Archbishop Hindley discretion to publish Canon BarJaley's written accusation, and also Canon Nash's apology to Ethel Bardslsy, and her signed statement. The Archbishop has no objection to everything being published if the Chancellor and Vica:-jeneral approve of the course. Canon Nash is urged by his family to return to England. ■: It is understood that at the inquiry some months ago, before the'chapter of St.- Paul's Cathedral,' Mebourhe, into the local charges against Mr Nash, he admitted an offence he which led tO/his removal from, the curacy of Huddersfield, of , which place Canon ! Bardsley was the vicars Through Canon Bardsley's instrumentality Mr Nash had been promoted to a living in the south of England, hut the offence alluded to ,Was stated to have prevented his inductiom which was to have taken place ■ in, a few days., A graver offence was mentioned in a letter to the Primate, Archbishop Sauuiarez Smith, of Sydnsy, written by Dr Moule, Bishop of Durham, who was then the piincipal of 1 idley Hall, and former tutor of Mr Nash before he was ordained. This charge was denied by Mr"Nash before the, chapter, and this denial led to a letter being v forwarded to Canon Bardsley at the close of the inquiry at St. Paul's, in October last. Early in January, a reply was received from Canon Bardsley containing statements which tended to substantiate the charge made by Bishop Moule.
