Year by year the price of firewood 'n Palmerston North has been increasing, owing to the supply in the surrounding districts running short, and the long distances which it his to be carted or railed. Farmers who have to stump wood on their properties, within easv reach of the town, are embracing what ia to them a golden opportunity to clear their farms, and, at the same time, dispose of the surplus wood at a good profit. In some cases farmers state that they have given the wood to persons who would clear the ground in return, and the offer has been readily accepted.
