FOOTBALL.
At a meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union, on Thursday night, a letter was received from the Bush Union, stating that the Wairarapa Union' had refused to grant half the proceeds of the gate receipts in connection with the matdi to be played in order to enable the selection of a team to play against the team. The Bush Union considered that the match was a "test game," whereas Wairarapa regarded it as the annual representative match. The Bush Union also asked for equal representation on the committee which is to select the combined team to meet the Englishmen. The Wairarapa Union wrote in connection with the matter of selection, contending that they were entitled to two selectors against Bush Union's one. —lt was decided to sugeset that a special trial match he played at Masterton, the proceeds to be equally divided after travelling expenses have been deducted; that an equal number of selectors be appointed by the respective unions to select the team to play the English fifteen, the New Zealand Union to send a selector to witness the play in the trial match and to act as umpire in the event of a deadlock in the selection of the team. At Featherston, on Thursday, the Rover and Liberal Seniors, played a drawn game—three points each. s Rover Juniors defeated Liberal Juniors, at Carterton, on Thursday, by 18 points to nil.
