ADVERTISING THE COLONIES.
A NEW DEPARTURE
Received May 8, y.25 p.m. LONDON, May 8. The "Standard" announces that it will issue weekly a supplement, entitled "Standard of the Empire," to be distributed gratis with Thursday's issues of the "Standard," containing cables and other news from the colonies by the Agents-General and soecial writers. It is not stated.'but it is correct to say that the "Standard" receives a heavy subvention from Canada and a smaller subvention from the Commonwealth for the publication of this news. This is considered a most unusual circumstance in English journalism.
