INSPECTION OF POTATOES.
OBJECTION 10 GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS. BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. TIMARU, May 8. Some dissatisfaction exists here over the Government regulatiuns providing for the inspection of potatoes at the port of destination. Representations have been made with a view to getting the Government grader to pass shipments before they ieave Tirnaru, and thus avoid possible heavy loss to shippers. The regulations are said to be not wholly bad, as they are causing buyer 3 to be very careful in securing only sound potatoes for shipment. Ownero are unable to quit any that 1 are unsound. Thus a glut on the ' North Island markets is prevented, 1 and prices are kept up.
