THE BLACKBALL STRIKE.
CHRISTCHURCH, May 7. A message received from Wellington, to-day, stated that it is understood that a conference will be held at Christchurch to-morrow between Messrs Pritchard and Webh, representing the Blackball miners, and representatives ot the Blackball Company, with a view to settling the troubles at the mine. Seen in regard to the above telegram, Mr A. A. McKellar, agent for the Blackball Company, stated that on Tuesday week last, the secretary of *.he Union telegraphed asking if the Company would receive deputation from the Union. The Company consented to do so, and it was decided to hold the conference on Tuesday last. Owing to th-* holiday festivities in connection with the Otira tunnel, however, the conference was postponed till to-morrow. Any arrangements maie by the deputation will be submitted to a full meeting of the Union
