PROFESSIONALS AND AMATEURS.

DEFINITIONS BY SPORTS CONFERENCE.

Received May 7, 10.S a.m. SYDNEY, May 7. Owing to the amateur definition adopted by the Conference of Sports Delegates, the Cricket Association will have to notify the Federation of the names of players who receive more than the allowance provided by the definition. They will be stamped as professional, cricket being classified as a game in which amateurs and professionals can play together. A curious exception 13 made in regard which is treated as an individual game, and therefore excluded from teams games. In consequence, open championships cannot be held, so that professional and amateurs cannot meet.
