Mrs H. W. Clay, of Hamua, is seriously ill in the Pahiatua Hospital, and will immediately undergo an operation. Tha friends of Mrs Syversen, of "E<tetHhuna, will regret to leam that *sb<s ia aenousy ill, and her condition jib causing her relatives considerable jnnxn-.ty. At Ekutahuna, on Wednesday, Mr 'Harold Skent, of Greytown, was to Miss Marion Alige daughter of Mr W. S. Algie, of Aljfredton. Thd death occurred at Opunake, «>n Wednesday. of Mr James Sinclair, who is well-known in the Wairarapa. The deceased came to N*w Zealand from the Shetland Islands in 1874, and took up his residence in Masterton, where he lived till 1836. He afterwards resided at Rallance and IMangahao. On the formation of the Masterton-Mtmgahao Special Settlement he became a member of that Association. He was with Mr J. B. --*Tait the first to fell bush in the Mangahao Valley. Mr Sinclair removed from Mangahao to Opunake about five years ago. A widow, Ifne daughter, and three sons are left to mourn thsir loss. The death occurred at Mnsterton last evening of Mr Tho?. Cox, a very old resident of the district. Deceased who was in his 66th year, was to havaleftona trip to England yestarday. Early in the week, however, ha became suddenly and seriously ill, epilepsy finally developing.; Dr. Cowie was called to attend Mr Cox, but medical aid was of no avail, .death ensuing last evenirg as stated, as a result of epileptic fits. Mrs Cox will have the sympathy of many friends in her bereavement. The >funeral takes place on Friday afternoon.
