METEOROLOGICAL.
At 9 a.m. yesterday Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours: — • Wind. -Northerly, strong to gale at all places northward of East Cape, Taupo and Kawhiu ; westerly, strong to gale elsewhere. Barometer. Fall at all places in the North Island; rising generally in the South Island. Rain is probable in all parts of the country, and colder weather in Otago. Rivers. — Rising on all western coast. Warning signal for northerly gale is exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tiritiri and Pouto; for westerly gale at Capes Campbell, Foulwind, and Farewell Spit, and for southerly gale at Nugget Point. Mr S. Mawley, Ditton, reports as follows:—The rainfall for April was 2.60 in. < The maximum rainfall in 24 hours w'as .87 on 18th. The average for 27 years is 4.11.
